Lykke Friis to become prorector of education
The Board of the University of Copenhagen has appointed Lykke Friis as prorector of education. She will commence the position on 1 August 2013.
Her employment was the result of the unanimous recommendation of the advisory committee and the Rector. There were 13 applicants of whom seven were women and six were men.
Lykke Friis is 43 years old and holds an MA in Political Science and a PhD from the University of Copenhagen. In addition, she has an MA from the London School of Economics. Lykke Friis has worked as a researcher and research director, and she is a former minister and current member of the Danish Parliament. She filled the prorector position at the University of Copenhagen from 2006 to 2009, when she was tapped for the post of Minister for Climate and Energy.
Lykke Friis has extensive experience with university matters and great insight into international issues. Moreover, she has great experience with and knowledge about communication, and she will have responsibility for the area of communication at the University of Copenhagen.
Focus on education
The new prorector position has been established because education is an area of high strategic priority at the University of Copenhagen.
