Workshop on hands-on experience archaeology in textile production

"Sagnlandet Lejre - Land of Legends", museum on prehistoric archaeology in Roskilde DK, is hosting a workshop on textile production from 23-25 August.

The workshop is focusing on practical introductions into different aspects of textile production on knowledge from the Roman world and from Roman Iron Age Scandinavia.

The workshop is offering practical experience in topics such as dyeing with plant material, fibre preparation, weaving on an upright loom and tool making.

A great number of scholars from a wide selection of countries are represented in Denmark in the workshop; Israel, India, Slovakia, Greece, Scandinavia and the United Kingdom are all countries attending the workshop.

The workshop is organised by The National Danish Foundation's Centre for Textile Research for the EU funded research programme DRESS ID.
