Professor of viral diseases elected member of AAP
Professor Jens Lundgren of the Copenhagen HIV Programme at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen, is amongst the internationally renowned doctors elected as new members this year by AAP - the Association of American Physicians.
Membership of AAP is solely awarded at the annual nominations at which the Association selects the international physicians that have achieved distinction in the field of the health sciences.
Ulla Wewer, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, is proud and pleased at the appointment: - It shows that here at the University of Copenhagen, we have highly skilled international stars in the field of health science and that their research work and results are regarded as highly valuable for the development of new knowledge for our students and for patients, she says.

Jens Lundgren gained membership in 2005 of the prestigious American Society for Clinical Investigation and is a member of the Danish Infectious Diseases Society and the European AIDS Clinical Society. He is a consultant to the WHO Collaborating Center for International Drug Monitoring and co-edits "HIV Medicine.
AAP was founded in 1885 by seven prominent doctors to "promote scientific and practical medicine." Nowadays, the Association's approximately 2000 members come from the whole world with the aim of actively seeking medical knowledge whilst promoting basic science and its clinical applications.
