Doctoral dissertation on monitoring aerial pollution on 3 December 2009

Major cities around the world use the modelling of Ole Hertel, when they want to asses how badly their air is polluted. Hertel has developed two systems to measure and compute air pollution. The Operational Street Pollution Model that maps air pollution in city streets, and the Atmospheric Chemistry an Deposition, that is used for computing long transport of aerial pollution. 20 cities across the globe use OSPM and now Hertel has written a doctoral dissertation on integrating monitoring and assessment, when estimating the impact of pollution on man and nature. The doctoral dissertation of Mr. Hertel comprises insights into atmospheric chemistry as well as geophysical and atmospheric modelling. Because the University of Copenhagen has strong scientific community for both, Mr. Hertel will be defending his thesis in Copenhagen.

Professor Hertel defends his thesis "Integrated monitoring and assessment of air pollution" on December 3rd, at 2 pm in auditorium 2 at the Department of Chemistry, H.C. Ørsted Building Universitetsparken 5,
